Just so we are all on the same page, it is a Latin based word. More specifically, it is the thirs-person plural, present, indicitave...i.e. "They go."
How do I know this, and why would ANYONE ever care. The answer to both, is Monty Python.
In the raging debate over what is the funniest movie ever, many great names have been dropped: Caddyshack, Something about Mary, Shot in the Dark, History of the World Part I, The ORIGINAL Producers, Friday the 13th Part III, and all of them are sterling representations of just how funny a funny movie should be. However, in my own crap opinion, I would have to say it comes down to 3, and I can not be for certain which is truly funnier. All three are done by the same 5 Brits, and 1 token Yank. Monty Python and The Search for the Holy Grail, Monty Python's Meaning of Life, Monty Python's Life of Brian.
As you can tell, I am very biased towards the drier style of comedy, yet find it nearly impossible to distinguish between the funniest of the three. So I came up with a solution, kind of. Evaluate each movie scene by scene and see which one makes me laugh the most. My theory fell apart again though as Holy Grail had more scenes that made me laugh, followed by Meaning of Life and then Life of Brian. However, Brian had the funniest scene hands down I have ever seen in any movie (The "Bigus Dickus" scene where Pilate battles a speach impediment as well as guards that can not stop laughing at his high "wanking Woman (as in Roman) fwiend".) I was again at an impasse.
This blog is directed to all those who have seen the movies, and may be able to offer me some crap-advice as to which is truly funnier than the rest. It doesn't necessarily have to pertain to just the Monty Python movies, but that would be very helpful as well.
Thank you, you lucky, jabby bastards.
I love the 'Leave your comment' thing. It's just like this Blog ... leave a pile of crap for others to find, step in, try to smear off your boot, etc. My favorite, though, is SNL's the "If it's not Scottish, it's crap!" store. But, seriously, is there anything funnier than calling some stranger, 'Big Nose' (from the LOB movie) and then, with the help of strategically placed mirrors, watching them knock your front teeth out.
